Still Waters in a Storm offers children something rare and much needed in our over-busy, media-saturated world: a place and opportunity to set aside the noise and distractions of our everyday lives, and to experience a few thoughtful hours each week of listening, learning, and making things. The things the children of Still Waters make are often made from words, and I admire Stephen Haff for his absolute respect for the children’s capacity to experiment and reach beyond themselves both as writers and human beings. My afternoon at Still Waters was time well spent and long to be remembered.
